"Playing around and tweaking BR, Jund Aggro, and Goblin decks has given me a new perspective on the possibilities of running mono-red or nearly mono-red. The idea would be to take advantage of your nearly mono-colored manabase to take the initiative in the early turns while opponents are messing around with fixing their mana and CIP tapped lands. To further that, we take advantage of the fact that there are so many good Haste threats available to red, and plenty of good burn, and we can further tune the deck towards killing opponents before they ever have a chance to set up.
Furthermore, we can also take advantage of the 8 Fetchlands that red has available to create Landfall triggers and make huge Plated Geopedes and hit our Zektar Shrine counters quickly."
